miVIP Robotic Surgery Center – Brooklyn

miVIP Robotic Surgery Center – Brooklyn

Brooklyn’s own outpatient robotic surgery center

If you think you have to go to a major hospital to have the best surgical care, think again. For state-of-the-art robotic surgery, Brooklyn patients choose the miVIP Surgery Center, which features the da Vinci Si Surgical System.

The da Vinci System—the worldwide leader in robotic surgery—incorporates the latest technology in the industry. This technology gives our skilled surgeons better visualization, control and precision during the procedure, which means less pain and quicker recovery with the same or better outcomes as other forms of surgery.

By choosing to have surgery at a robotic surgery center, patients don’t have lengthy hospital stays, which increase risk for postsurgical infection and add unnecessary costs. There are other reasons to choose miVIP as well:

• Joint Commission-accredited facilities and equipment
• American College of Surgeons board certified physicians
• Highly trained nurses and technicians
• Nationally recognized support staff

How does robotic surgery work?

Using the da Vinci Si Surgical System, physicians sit at a computerized console located next to the operating table. The surgeon makes a small, dime-sized opening, through which he can insert his instruments. One of these includes a camera that transmits high-definition, three dimensional pictures of the surgical site that the surgeon views through a special headset. He manipulates the instruments with patented EndoWrist controls that scale and filter his movements into micro-movements that are so precise, he can even peel a grape!

With that kind of accuracy and control, surgeons can operate on tiny structures in hard-to-reach areas without damaging surrounding tissues. Procedures are completed more quickly with fewer complications, less pain and blood loss, and minimal to no scarring.

The gold standard of surgical care
With these advantages, it’s no wonder that robotic surgery is now considered the “gold standard” for a wide array of procedures. Specialists in gynecology, urology, bariatric, ENT and orthopedics, among others, all prefer the da Vinci robot over other forms of minimally invasive or open techniques for such operations as hysterectomy, radical prostatectomy, gastric bypass and many other surgeries.
